Moscow mule

Ahhhhh the Moscow mule! Invented in Manhattan but became quite popular with the west coast socialites. Wherever it came from, this is quite a simple drink. Occasionally I will have one that is way too over powered with fresh ginger. A little goes a long way. This recipe is simple and easy. When I drink it I think of hot summer nights. I'm missing those these days. It's unatural for Texas to be cold. I don't like it! The best part of this is a mint simple syrup. Oh and the copper mug!

You will need
1 bottle of Belvedere Vodka
1 bottle of Belvoir Ginger Beer
A generous amount of fresh mint
6 limes
Sugar
Copper mugs

Simple syrup recipe
Add 1 cup cold filtered water to one cup of sugar in a small saucepan. Add 8 to ten mint leaves. On medium heat bring to a simmer until sugar is dissolved. Take off heat and let cool completely.

In a cocktail shaker add a few mint leaves with 2 ounces of vodka, 1 ounce of simple syrup, and the juice from half of a fresh lime. Muddle leaves in the vodka sugar mixture. Add ice and shake ten times. Fill a copper mug with ice and pour the vodka mixture in the mug. Top with ginger beer and fresh mint. Add a lime slice of desired.

And there you have it. Ashley's perfect Moscow mule. I've had a few already. Let me tell you at the end of the day this is what I want to end it with. Salut!
